Francis Chittenden and Geoffrey Horley founded Chittenden Horley in 1984 after they met at Manchester Business School (MBS). Francis returned to MBS in 1987 where he is now ACCA Professor of Small Business Finance.
The practice continued as Geoffrey Horley t/a Chittenden Horley and developed alongside the normal commercial work and increasing specialism and commitment to the not-for-profit sector. In April 2003, Chittenden Horley Limited was established to carry forward the work in this area. It focuses exclusivley on work with the charitable and voluntary sectors.
The commercial practice continued to operate as before but was subsequently incorporated as CHCA Ltd.
Both companies remain under the contriol of Geoffrey Horley.
Other business trading as Chittenden Horley
There are two other businesses that trade as Chittenden Horley. The commercial accounting practice CHCA Limited refered to above and Chittenden Horley Consulting Limited.
CHCA Ltd offers the full range of services that you would expect from a firm of chartered accountants including audit and tax advice. The practice deals with many individuals and companies involved in creative industries (actors, designers etc).
Chittenden Horley Consulting Limited is jointly owned by Dave Parrish and Geoffrey Horley. Chittenden Horley Consulting Ltd advises clients on business development,
financial management, strategic marketing and other management issues. The company specialises in working with creative industries clients, arts enterprises
and third sector organisations.
